Conrad Ost Seifert is an attorney at Seifert & Hogan in Old Lyme. His practice concentrates on civil and criminal appeals and his practice areas include civil litigation, federal and state criminal defense, probate litigation and probate estates. He graduated from Trinity College in 1977 and Capital University Law School in 1981 and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar that year.

Representative appellate decisions are: State v. Graham, 200 Conn. 9 (1986), which expanded the right to impeach witnesses; Walsh v. Stonington, 250 Conn. 443 (1999), which confirmed that municipal state-regulated plants may be held liable in private nuisance for the pollution damages incurred by a small number of private citizens; State v. Payne, 260 Conn. 446 (2002), in which the appellant’s murder  conviction was reversed solely on the basis of prosecutorial impropriety; State v. Chyung,  325 Conn. 236 (2017), in which the appellant’s murder and manslaughter convictions were both reversed because the verdicts conflicted; and Helmedach v. Commissioner of Correction, 168 Conn. App. 439 (2016), affirmed 329 Conn. 726 (2018).  In this habeas corpus matter Attorney Seifert successfully represented the petitioner over a four year period, first at the habeas court in 2015, then at the Connecticut Appellate Court in 2016 and finally at the Connecticut Supreme Court in 2018 when the state’s highest court ruled unanimously in his client’s favor.  The petitioner’s felony murder conviction and 35 year sentence were ultimately vacated and dismissed.

In addition to his admission to the Connecticut bar, Attorney Seifert is admitted to practice before the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Court, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the New London and Connecticut Bar Associations and the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association of which he is a past president.

Mr. Seifert enjoys boating, fishing, swimming, art, history and literature.
